I agree with many other neighborhood parents excited by Garrison's recent progress. I also think the school -- and its grounds -- are a very promising resource, even for residents without kids. Why not invest in something that's already improving? Garrison's building and grounds are not up to snuff. They don't invite you in, as a school or a playground or a playing field should. So why not move Garrison kids to Seaton for ONE year only, while carrying out the major renovation that Garrison and its grounds needs? Then you'll have a new state-of-the-art facility that will help to entice neighborhood families (including mine!) to send their kids there. Isn't that better than closing Garrison, letting it deteriorate (along with the vast green space behind it!), and just hoping some new students will appear? Sometimes investing large amounts of money in infrastructure pays off over the long-term, even if it's painful in the short term!
