SAFETY and TRANSPORTATION is the biggest issue for Johnson.

Safety because students will now have to cross Suitland Parkland. Transportation because it will be a financial/emotional hardship for parents; they do not have the capacity to afford and/or provide transportation. The distance is too far and unsafe for students to walk.

Even if zones change and community boundaries change – it will create more unsafe rivalries. Rival neighborhoods have conflicts and this forces kids to interact and in order to get to school, they’ll have to cross rival zones. And we’re already seeing an increase in gang violence.
