Concern: Eagle Academy is right across the street, and so the DCPS kids are going to right across the street to the charter school.

Idea: Transform MC Terrell to early education center – birth to early childhood. Arts, programming, and other programming to get the young mothers and their babies in early. "Teething on IPads" (SMILE)

Idea: We need to seriously look at the building to full capacity instead of closing it down. If students only using small percentage, then that’s percentage of building that DCPS focuses on and find other uses for the remainder of the building - adult ed classes, office space for district staff, community meetings/office space, etc.

Needs: Considerable wrap-around support will be needed at King to accomodate and serve McTerrell students. Staff must move with students to minimize transition issues, ensure consistency, familiar faces, maintain relationships, etc.

Questions: Can King ES handle the enrollment from MC Terrell – not just looking at capacity of the building but whether there is adequate space or reconfiguration? What about transition for staff – where will they be hired?
